The next job often depends on recommendations. An external trusted contact person stands outside this dependency. That way, things come up early, while they can still be resolved.
What the trusted contact person does
- Confidential advice and psychosocial support for everyone working on set
- Information about your rights and options in case of violations of the Respect Code Film
- Referral to specialist advice services and further support
- Support for feedback processes on set
What the trusted contact person does not do
- They do not investigate or establish the facts
- They do not impose sanctions
- They do not approach accused persons
- They do not pass on any report without your explicit consent
A complaints procedure under the AGG is something different. It requires a trained complaints office.

For everyone working on the production: cast, crew and HODs. Also for extras, day players, interns and service providers on set.

- What is an external trusted contact person? A point of contact for everyone on set who is not part of the production. They stand outside the chain of command and do not depend on recommendations for the next job. That is why problems tend to come up early.
- How is this different from a complaints office under the AGG? The trusted contact person listens, informs and refers people on. They do not investigate and do not decide on consequences. A complaints office under the German General Equal Treatment Act (AGG) handles complaints from employees in a set procedure. Employers are required to have one. Many productions need both.
- How does this relate to the Respect Code Film? The Respect Code Film describes how the industry wants to work together respectfully. The trusted contact person helps make sure it reaches the set: they inform people about their rights and options and support feedback processes.
- Where do you work? On set anywhere in Germany. We are based in Hamburg. If you like, we are also reachable digitally, for example for teams working at several locations.
- When should you get in touch? Ideally during pre-production, before the shoot starts. That way the trusted contact person can introduce themselves to the team before the first day of shooting.
